Working Student – Brand & Visual Design

At Apheris, we are building the future of how AI is applied in pharmaceutical R&D. We enable leading pharmaceutical teams to discover and develop drugs faster. We host the industry’s largest federated data networks for drug discovery AI, spanning co-folding, ADMET, and antibody developability. 

Across these networks, models are trained on proprietary industry datasets to achieve higher performance and broader applicability while keeping data control and IP protected. We deliver these superior models through drug discovery applications that enable teams to run them at scale, further customize them, and integrate them into existing R&D workflows. 

• AI Structural Biology (AISB) Network: Pharmaceutical companies collaborate in the field of co-folding, structure-based binding affinity predictions and antibody design.
• ADMET Network: Pharmaceutical and biotech companies collaborate to improve small-molecule property prediction and expand into further drug modalities.
• Antibody Developability Network: Pharma partners collaborate to federate historical and purpose-built antibody developability data sets for secure ML training, without data leaving each partner’s environment.

As our Working Student – Brand & Visual Design, you will look after the Apheris brand day to day: keeping our templates and assets consistent, producing the visuals our commercial and scientific teams need, and improving how we present complex science to a technical audience. 

This is a hands-on role for someone with a sharp eye for B2B design who can work quickly without letting quality slip. Briefs will not always be complete, and priorities shift as we grow, so you will often shape the brief as much as execute it. 

The work moves quickly and you will usually have several requests running at once. We value pragmatism: knowing when a piece needs further polishing and when a good version delivered today is the right call.

Brand system and templates

• Maintain and extend our master templates (PowerPoint, one-pagers, Word documents) so every team works from the same, up-to-date standard
• Keep our asset library (icons, graphics, imagery) organized, current and easy to use
• Check outgoing materials for brand consistency and fix issues before they reach customers

External materials

• Design and refine pitch decks, product one-pagers and fact sheets for our sales and partnerships teams
• Create and update website graphics and page visuals in Webflow
• Produce social visuals for LinkedIn and event materials for conferences, such as brochures, posters, roll ups, banners.
• Create short videos and motion graphics for social, the website and product demos

Internal communication

• Create visuals for internal presentations, all-hands and company updates
• Help turn scientific and technical content into clear diagrams and explainer graphics
• Test and document AI-assisted design workflows the wider team can reuse

• Enrolled in a bachelor's or master's programme in Communication Design, Media Design, Visual Communication, Marketing or a related field
• A portfolio from your studies, personal projects or freelance work that includes B2B, editorial or information design, not only illustration or consumer branding
• A trained eye for typography, spacing, grids and visual hierarchy
• Confident with professional design tools such as Figma, Adobe Creative Cloud or Canva, and curious about AI design tools such as Claude Design
• Opinions on design tooling and ways of working are a plus: you will be the design specialist on the team, so you will have a real say in the tools we use and how we set them up
• Examples of event or print design (e.g. brochures, posters, roll-ups, banners) are a plus
• Video editing or motion design skills (e.g. After Effects, Premiere Pro) are a big plus
• Organised and reliable with deadlines and feedback rounds; you ask questions early when a brief is unclear
• Clear written and spoken communication in English; German is a plus
• Interest in science, life sciences or AI; no scientific background required
