Position Overview

Matrix is seeking experienced independent professionals to join our contractor network as Technology Strategists & Advisors.

Contractors receive project-based assignments from Matrix based on individual client Work Orders. Assignments may involve technology strategy, digital transformation, enterprise systems, cybersecurity strategy, technology governance, technology-risk assessment, technology evaluation, implementation planning or other authorized strategic technology advisory services.

This is a senior-level advisory role suited to experienced technology professionals who can assess complex environments, advise executive stakeholders and develop practical technology strategies that support organizational objectives.

Clients may include law firms, healthcare organizations, government ministries and agencies, professional practices, corporations, regulated organizations and other institutions where technology, confidentiality, security, privacy and operational resilience are important considerations.

Assignments may be performed remotely or may require attendance at client locations for executive meetings, technology assessments, workshops, stakeholder engagement, implementation planning or other project requirements.

Depending on the assignment, contractors may work independently or collaborate with Matrix advisors, technical specialists, project managers and authorized client stakeholders.

The contractor is responsible for independently determining the manner, method, sequence and tools used to complete an assignment, subject to the applicable client Work Order, required deliverables, agreed timelines, confidentiality and security requirements, and client-specific requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Technology Planning

Executive & Leadership Advisory

Provide independent strategic technology advice to authorized leadership stakeholders, which may include:

Prepare executive briefings, strategic recommendations, technology assessments, risk-related reports and other advisory materials within the scope of the Work Order.

Consultants provide technology and operational perspectives. They do not provide legal opinions, legal advice or determinations regarding a client's legal rights, obligations or compliance with law.

Digital Transformation & Modernization

Technology Risk, Privacy & Governance

Consultants may identify technology-related risks and requirements but do not provide legal or regulatory opinions or certify that a client is legally or regulatory compliant.

Enterprise Systems & Technology Evaluation

Evaluate technology solutions based on documented client requirements, which may include:

Provide objective, vendor-neutral recommendations based on technology, operational, security and implementation considerations.

Vendor Evaluation & Procurement Support

Where included within the Work Order:

Consultants do not provide legal contract advice or legal contract review. Legal terms, contractual rights, obligations and negotiations remain with the client's appropriately qualified legal or professional advisor.

Contractors do not have authority to make contractual commitments on behalf of Matrix or the client unless specifically authorized in writing.

Independent Contractor Engagement

This is an independent contractor, project-based engagement and not an employment position.

Contractors manage their assigned projects independently and are responsible for determining the manner, method, sequence and tools used to perform the work, subject to the applicable Work Order, required deliverables, agreed timelines, confidentiality obligations, security requirements and client-specific requirements.

Matrix provides the client relationship, assignment scope and required deliverables. Contractors independently manage the execution of their assignments and use Matrix's designated online project-management and collaboration platform to receive Work Orders, access assignment information, provide status updates and collaborate with Matrix and authorized client contacts as required.

Contractors may accept assignments based on their availability, qualifications, experience and capacity.

Contractors are responsible for maintaining the professional capabilities, equipment, technology, transportation and other resources necessary to perform their assignments, except where otherwise agreed for a specific project.

Contractors are responsible for their own applicable taxes, government remittances, insurance, business expenses and other obligations arising from their independent business activities.

Nothing in the contractor relationship creates an employment, partnership, joint-venture or agency relationship between the contractor and Matrix or the client.

The consultant's role is to provide technology expertise, strategic analysis, operational recommendations and implementation guidance within the scope of the applicable Work Order.
