As part of our commercial and operations organisation, we're hiring a Team Lead – Customer Compliance to lead our compliance team and ensure that customer verification is performed with the highest standards of quality, attention to detail, speed, and consistency.
This is a hands-on leadership role. You will not only manage and coach the team — you will actively perform compliance checks yourself, lead by example, and continuously look for ways to improve how compliance works across the company.
You will own the day-to-day quality of the process while thinking about what comes next: how we can make compliance faster, more scalable, more reliable, and increasingly automated.
About the RoleAs Team Lead Customer Compliance, you will be responsible for making sure our customers are properly verified and compliant throughout their journey with eCarsTrade.
You will lead a team responsible for KYC checks, document verification, screening, and customer compliance, while also handling complex cases and communicating directly with customers when required.
Your role goes beyond checking documents. You'll continuously look at the bigger picture — identifying inefficiencies, improving processes, supporting automation, keeping up with regulatory requirements, and thinking about compliance across multiple levels of the business, including company structures, branches, and different European markets.
You will be the role model for the team: someone who understands the details of compliance, sets the standard for quality and speed, and helps the team become better every day.

Responsibilities

Lead by example

• Perform KYC, document verification, and screening checks yourself.
• Set the standard for accuracy, attention to detail, speed, and consistency.
• Handle complex or sensitive compliance cases and support the team with difficult decisions.
• Act as the team's role model in compliance knowledge, behaviour, ownership, and execution.
• Stay close to the operational process so you understand where problems occur and where improvements are needed.

Lead and coach the team

• Manage and coach Customer Compliance team members in their daily operations.
• Be a reliable point of contact for the team, providing guidance and support when needed.
• Monitor the quality and speed of individual and team performance.
• Provide regular feedback and coaching to improve knowledge, accuracy, and efficiency.
• Help team members prioritise their workload and handle complex customer cases.
• Maintain a strong team culture built around responsibility, attention to detail, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
• Ensure the team consistently meets the required standards for compliance checks and customer response times.

Own the compliance process

• Ensure customer documentation is thoroughly checked against applicable KYC and business requirements.
• Maintain high-quality verification and screening processes across the customer lifecycle.
• Manage compliance at different stages, including:
  • Post-registration
  • Pre-invoice
  • Pre-pickup
• Ensure that customer compliance requirements are correctly applied before customers progress to the relevant stage.
• Identify gaps, risks, bottlenecks, and recurring issues in the existing process.
• Continuously improve workflows to make compliance more efficient without compromising quality.
• Work towards increasing automation and reducing unnecessary manual work.
• Think proactively about the next step: what can be improved, simplified, automated, or made more reliable.

Regulatory knowledge and compliance development

• Keep up to date with KYC regulations, requirements, and best practices relevant to the automotive business across Europe.
• Monitor changes that may affect customer onboarding, verification, screening, and ongoing compliance.
• Ensure processes evolve as regulatory and business requirements change.
• Develop an understanding of compliance across multiple levels of a customer organisation, including companies, ownership structures, branches, and related entities.
• Identify potential compliance risks and escalate them appropriately.
• Work with relevant internal teams to ensure compliance requirements are understood and implemented correctly.

Customer communication

• Directly contact customers when additional information, clarification, or documentation is required.
• Clearly explain compliance requirements and guide customers through the verification process.
• Handle sensitive or complex customer conversations professionally and efficiently.
• Balance a strong compliance standard with a smooth customer experience.

Cross-team collaboration

• Work closely with Sales, Customer Support, Finance, Back Office, and other relevant teams.
• Communicate clearly when accounts are approved, require additional information, or cannot proceed.
• Help internal teams understand compliance requirements and avoid recurring issues.
• Ensure that confirmed and compliant accounts are transferred smoothly to the relevant teams.

Requirements

• Previous experience in Compliance, KYC, AML, Customer Verification, Back Office, Operations, or Administration.
• Previous experience in a team lead, senior, supervisory, or coaching role is a strong advantage.
• Strong understanding of KYC principles and customer verification processes.
• Genuine interest in compliance and keeping up to date with changing regulatory requirements.
• Strong attention to detail — you naturally notice things others might miss.
• Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills.
• A structured and analytical approach to solving problems.
• A continuous-improvement mindset: you don't just follow a process; you ask how it can be better.
• Interest in automation, process optimisation, and building scalable operational workflows.
• Ability to make sound decisions when dealing with incomplete or complex information.
• Strong communication skills and confidence communicating directly with customers.
• High sense of responsibility, reliability, and ownership.
• Ability to work independently while also coaching and supporting a team.
• Comfortable working in a fast-moving international environment.
• Fluent in English. Other European languages are a plus.
• Experience in the automotive industry or understanding of the European automotive market is a plus.
