Social Media Lead (Student Creator, Part-Time)
About this role
Knowt is the study app about 8 million high schoolers use to get through AP classes, the SAT and ACT, finals, and college apps. We’re looking for someone to be the face and voice of Knowt’s high school social presence. You’ll own our TikTok and Instagram (@getknowt) end to end and make them the account students actually want to follow: funny, relatable, and useful.
This isn’t a brand marketing job. You’re not talking at high schoolers. You’re one of them, or close enough that you still speak the language. You know the 2am cram sessions, the group chat panic before an AP exam, the SAT score reveal, and the Common App essay spiral, and you know how to turn all of it into content that hits.
The basics
Part-time, 15–20 hrs/week
Fully remote
Base pay plus performance bonuses tied to account growth
You’ll report to our Student Marketing Manager and work with her every day
You’ll start with an established account: 476K followers, backed by a platform 8 million students use. You’re not building from zero.
What you’ll do
Create
Post one talk-to-camera video every day to TikTok and Instagram. You’re on screen.
Take each video from idea to posted: hook, script, filming, editing, caption.
Make content about what high schoolers are actually dealing with (AP exams, the SAT and ACT, finals, college apps, test stress) and make it feel like it came from a friend, not a company.
Work Knowt into content naturally, so students want to watch it and then use the app.
Keep every post native to the platform and to high school culture: current sounds, formats, humor, and slang that’s actually in use, not cringe.
Grow
Keep testing hooks, formats, storytelling angles, and CTAs to find winning formulas you can repeat.
Plan content around the school calendar so you reach students exactly when they need Knowt: AP season, SAT and ACT test dates, finals, application deadlines.
Turn trends, comment sections, and performance data into new content ideas.
Own the results
Send a weekly recap: what performed, what didn’t, and what you’re changing next.
Track views, watch time, saves, shares, comments, and signups, and make the call on what to scale, fix, or drop.
Stay ahead of the schedule. Film in batches so the account never misses a day.
How we work together
Every post is reviewed by our Student Marketing Manager before it goes live. That’s not a committee rewriting your hooks. It’s a fast feedback loop with someone who knows this audience and this account inside out. Expect notes on most videos early on, fewer as you find your rhythm. You’ll need to build time into your week for revisions and turn feedback around within 24 hours.
What we’re looking for
You need:
Experience running and growing an account, your own or a brand’s. Show us the numbers.
Real comfort on camera. You’ll be on screen every day, so this is non-negotiable.
Fluency in high school culture. You’ve lived AP classes, standardized tests, and application season recently enough that it still feels like your world.
An instinct for what goes viral on TikTok and Instagram, and the ability to explain why.
Reliability. You hit deadlines, respond to feedback quickly, and treat the account like it’s yours.
A data-driven approach. Your creative calls are backed by views and conversion data.
Nice to have:
Experience making content for edtech, test prep, or student audiences
Experience scripting for other creators
Strong AP, SAT, or ACT results of your own (credibility goes a long way with this audience)
