Senior Treasury Management Product Manager

First Merchants Bank is seeking a Senior Treasury Management Product Manager to join our team! This position is responsible for the strategic leadership, governance, development, and performance of a portfolio of Treasury Management products and solutions serving Business Banking, Middle Market, Corporate Banking, and Institutional clients. This role owns the strategic direction and product roadmap for assigned Treasury Management capabilities, including payments, receivables, liquidity management, fraud mitigation, commercial digital banking, and emerging treasury solutions. The position is accountable for driving product innovation, client adoption, revenue growth, deposit generation, operational effectiveness, and risk management while ensuring products remain competitive and aligned with enterprise objectives. The Senior Treasury Management Product Manager serves as a key strategic partner to Commercial Banking, Treasury Sales, Operations, Technology, Digital, Risk Management, Compliance, Marketing, Finance, and Executive Leadership. Through influence and collaboration, this role leads cross-functional initiatives that enhance client experience, strengthen market competitiveness, and support the bank's growth strategy. While sales and relationship management teams own client acquisition and portfolio growth activities, this role owns product strategy, governance, lifecycle management, and the capabilities that enable sustainable Treasury Management growth across the organization. This position can be remote within our operational footprint.

As part of this role you will:

• Treasury Management Product Strategy & Portfolio Leadership
  
  • Develop, lead, and continuously evolve product strategies that support enterprise Treasury Management, Commercial Banking, and Payments objectives.
  • Own the strategic roadmap for assigned Treasury Management products and capabilities, including prioritization of investments, enhancements, integrations, and innovation initiatives.
  • Align product strategy with enterprise growth objectives related to deposits, fee income, client acquisition, relationship expansion, and digital adoption.
  • Identify market opportunities through analysis of client behavior, industry trends, competitive intelligence, regulatory developments, and emerging technologies.
  • Develop business cases, investment recommendations, and strategic proposals supporting product growth and modernization initiatives.
  • Establish measurable performance objectives that evaluate product effectiveness, client value, market competitiveness, and financial contribution.
• Product Lifecycle Management & Innovation
  
  • Lead the end-to-end management of Treasury Management products from strategy and design through implementation, optimization, and retirement.
  • Partner with Technology, Operations, Digital Banking, and external vendors to implement product enhancements, new capabilities, and platform improvements.
  • Drive innovation initiatives involving real-time payments, embedded banking, artificial intelligence, API integration, fraud prevention, and digital treasury solutions.
  • Ensure products remain scalable, competitive, operationally efficient, and aligned with evolving client expectations.
  • Promote continuous improvement through modernization of product capabilities, service delivery models, and digital experiences.
• Client Experience & Market Leadership
  
  • Serve as a Treasury Management subject matter expert and strategic advisor to business leaders and client-facing teams.
  • Lead efforts to gather and analyze client feedback, market intelligence, industry research, and competitive insights.
  • Translate client needs into product enhancements and strategic initiatives that improve client satisfaction, retention, and treasury wallet share.
  • Support key client engagements, strategic prospect opportunities, and executive-level treasury discussions.
  • Represent the bank in industry forums, vendor relationships, customer advisory councils, and professional organizations as appropriate.
• Commercial Banking & Treasury Sales Enablement
  
  • Partner with Treasury Management Sales, Commercial Banking, Corporate Banking, and Business Banking teams to support growth objectives.
  • Develop product positioning, value propositions, sales tools, training programs, and solution frameworks that enhance market effectiveness.
  • Support significant client opportunities, complex treasury solution design, request-for proposal responses, and strategic relationship initiatives.
  • Ensure relationship managers and Treasury Management officers have the tools, resources, and product expertise necessary to serve clients effectively.
  • Collaborate with Marketing and Sales leadership to increase awareness, adoption, and market penetration of Treasury Management solutions.
• Enterprise Leadership & Cross-Functional Execution
  
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives involving Payments, Commercial Banking, Technology, Operations, Risk Management, Compliance, Finance, Marketing, Digital, Information Security, and external partners.
  • Establish governance processes, decision-making frameworks, and prioritization models that support effective product management and execution.
  • Drive alignment across stakeholder groups to ensure successful delivery of strategic initiatives.
  • Influence enterprise decisions regarding product investments, client experience improvements, technology modernization, and business growth opportunities.
  • Build strong partnerships across business lines to support long-term Treasury Management objectives.
• Financial Performance & Business Management
  
  • Own product performance metrics, including revenue growth, fee income, deposit balances, client adoption, utilization, profitability, and market performance.
  • Develop and maintain scorecards, dashboards, and executive reports evaluating product health and business outcomes.
  • Analyze pricing, profitability, market penetration, and client utilization trends to identify opportunities for optimization.
  • Evaluate return on investment for product initiatives and make recommendations regarding future investments and strategic priorities.
  • Support annual planning, forecasting, budgeting, and long-term product portfolio management processes.
• Risk, Compliance & Product Governance
  
  • Establish and maintain governance practices supporting effective product oversight, accountability, and regulatory compliance.
  • Partner with Risk Management, Compliance, Legal, Audit, Fraud Prevention, and Information Security teams to assess and mitigate product-related risks.
  • Ensure Treasury Management products comply with applicable banking regulations, payment network requirements, and internal policies.
  • Lead product responses to regulatory changes, audit findings, and evolving industry requirements.
  • Oversee vendor management activities and third-party relationships impacting Treasury Management products and services.
• Leadership & Organizational Development
  
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and mentorship to Product Managers, Product Analysts, and Treasury Management team members.
  • Contribute to departmental strategy, talent development, succession planning, and organizational effectiveness initiatives.
  • Promote a culture of innovation, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Establish repeatable product management practices, governance standards, and operating routines that support scalable growth across the Treasury Management organization.

To be successful in this role, we require the following:

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Management, Information Systems, or related field.
• Minimum of six (6) years of experience in Treasury Management, Payments, Product Management, Commercial Banking, Cash Management, or related financial services disciplines.
• Minimum of three (3) years leading strategic product initiatives within a complex banking environment.
• Demonstrated experience managing product portfolios, strategic roadmaps, and enterprise-level initiatives.
• Strong knowledge of Treasury Management products, payment systems, commercial banking services, and liquidity management solutions.
• Experience working across large, matrixed organizations and influencing senior stakeholders without direct authority.
• Strong business acumen, analytical capabilities, and financial management skills.
• Proven ability to develop and execute product strategies that drive measurable business outcomes.
• Excellent communication, presentation, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.

The following would be a plus:

• Experience within a large regional, super-regional, or national financial institution.
• Deep expertise in ACH, Wire Transfer, RTP, FedNow, Commercial Card, Lockbox, Integrated Receivables, Integrated Payables, Merchant Services, Positive Pay, Account Analysis, International Payments, and Liquidity Management.
• Certified Treasury Professional (CTP), Accredited ACH Professional (AAP), Accredited Payments Risk Professional (APRP), or similar industry certification.
• MBA or advanced graduate degree.
• Experience leading digital treasury transformation, payments modernization, fintech partnerships, API strategies, or commercial digital banking initiatives.
• Experience supporting middle market, corporate, commercial, and institutional banking segments.
