The Role:

We are looking for a Senior SAP S/4HANA Developer on behalf of our client to lead backend and full-stack development within a modern S/4HANA enterprise landscape. In this role, you will take technical ownership of designing, building, and extending mission-critical SAP applications—leveraging modern development paradigms such as the ABAP RESTful Application Programming Model (RAP) and Core Data Services (CDS).

You will drive modern, upgrade-stable SAP development by adhering strictly to "Clean Core" architectural guidelines. Rather than relying on legacy, modification-heavy ABAP patterns, you will build side-by-side extensions on SAP BTP, expose optimized OData services, push heavy calculations down to the in-memory SAP HANA database, and deliver intuitive user experiences via SAP Fiori.

What we’re looking for:

• 5+ years of SAP development experience, with at least 3 years dedicated to S/4HANA, featuring expert command of Object-Oriented ABAP (OO-ABAP), New ABAP Syntax (7.4+), and RAP (ABAP RESTful Application Programming Model).

• Advanced proficiency authoring complex Core Data Services (CDS) Views, parameters, associations, access controls (DCL), and ABAP Managed Database Procedures (AMDP) for code push-down performance.

• Extensive experience creating and exposing OData v2/v4 services via SAP Gateway (SEGW) or RAP business services for UI consumption and third-party cloud integrations.

• Practical experience developing custom SAP Fiori / SAPUI5 applications or configuring Fiori Elements apps using CDS annotations.

• Firm understanding of modern SAP extensibility frameworks, including On-Stack Developer Extensibility (Embedded ABAP / Steampunk) and Side-by-Side Extensibility using SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP).

• Proven ability to trace, profile, and optimize ABAP/HANA execution using Runtime Analysis (SAT), ABAP Test Cockpit (ATC), SQL Trace (ST05), and SQL Monitor (SQLM).

Nice-to-have skills:

• Hands-on experience developing side-by-side extensions on SAP BTP using Node.js/CAP (Cloud Application Programming Model) or ABAP Cloud.

• Background in legacy-to-S/4HANA code remediation, custom code analysis (CCA), and migration projects.

• Exposure to Event-Driven Architecture using SAP Event Mesh or Kafka integrations.

• Knowledge of standard SAP S/4HANA business process modules (FI/CO, SD, MM, or PP).

Responsibilities:

• Architect, build, and maintain high-performing transactional and analytical SAP applications using ABAP RAP, CDS views, and AMDP.

• Build upgrade-stable enhancements and side-by-side extensions, strictly minimizing legacy modifications to protect core system stability.

• Design and expose secure OData endpoints to power SAP Fiori user interfaces, mobile apps, and enterprise cloud integrations.

• Perform automated code checks (ATC), enforce clean code standards, conduct peer code reviews, and optimize legacy custom code for S/4HANA compatibility.

• Collaborate closely with SAP functional consultants, enterprise architects, and BTP specialists to translate business requirements into technical solution specifications.
