Senior Manager, Total Rewards

The Senior Manager, Total Rewards is a key member of the Human Capital team responsible for executing Bridgeway's compensation and benefits strategy and providing leadership to the HR Operations function. While strategic direction is set by and in close partnership with the VP, Human Capital, the Senior Manager brings deep subject matter expertise that positions them to actively inform and influence that strategy. Day-to-day, this role is execution-focused — administering benefits programs, managing compensation planning and the merit cycle, ensuring regulatory compliance, and driving HR operations delivery. The Senior Manager serves as the team's go-to expert on compensation and benefits and operates as a collaborative thought partner to the VP, Human Capital on workforce investment decisions.

This position is remote with preference for East Coast candidates. Occasional travel <5%.

Responsibilities:

Compensation

• Execute Bridgeway's compensation philosophy, job architecture, and pay equity framework; serve as the organization's subject matter expert on total rewards and actively inform its evolution in partnership with the VP, Human Capital.
• Lead the annual merit cycle end-to-end, including budget modeling, manager guidance, system configuration, and executive reporting.
• Analyze compensation surveys; benchmark roles against the market to assess competitiveness and inform pay decisions at all levels.
• Provide compensation guidance for new hires, promotions, and internal transfers; partner closely with Talent Acquisition and HR Business Partners on offer recommendations.
• Support the VP, Human Capital and Finance on total compensation budgeting, workforce cost modeling, and compensation analysis.

Benefits

• Lead benefits program strategy, design, and ongoing management — including self-funded health, welfare, retirement 401(k), and leave programs — ensuring programs are market-competitive, cost-effective, and fully compliant with applicable regulations.
• Drive the employee benefits experience end-to-end — open enrollment planning and execution, employee communications, system configuration, and carrier/vendor coordination.
• Manage the benefits broker, TPA, stop-loss carrier, and 401(k) record keeper relationships and hold all benefits vendors accountable to service standards, contract terms, and deliverables.
• Ensure benefits and leave programs comply with applicable regulations, including ACA, ERISA, FMLA, and state-specific requirements.

HR Operations

• Provide day-to-day leadership to the HR Operations function, ensuring high-quality, efficient service delivery across the employee lifecycle.
• Directly manage, coach, and develop the HR Operations Specialist, setting clear performance expectations and supporting ongoing professional growth.
• Manage HR regulatory compliance reporting obligations, including ACA filings, EEOC reporting, and IRS/DOL testing requirements.
• Drive HRIS data integrity standards and identify opportunities for system automation, integration, process improvement, and operational efficiency.
• Develop, maintain, and continuously improve HR SOPs and process documentation across Total Rewards and HR Operations.
• Analyze workforce cost, compensation equity, and benefits utilization data to surface actionable insights and inform strategic decisions.
• Lead and contribute to human capital projects, including system implementations, program launches, policy updates, and organizational changes.
• Leverage generative AI tools such as Claude and Copilot to streamline workflows, enhance productivity, improve solution quality, and accelerate delivery of business outcomes.

Requirements:

• 5+ years of progressive HR experience with demonstrated depth in compensation program design, job architecture, market benchmarking, and incentive design
• Proven experience managing a full benefits portfolio – including self-funded health plan administration, 401(k)/retirement plan administration, vendor and broker relationships, open enrollment execution, and regulatory compliance
• Prior experience managing or formally mentoring direct reports with a demonstrated commitment to developing others
• Strong analytical skills with proficiency in compensation data modeling; advanced Excel required
• Experience with ADP WorkforceNow (HRIS/payroll) and Lattice (performance management) strongly desired; prior experience with comparable platforms in both categories required
• Solid working knowledge of applicable regulations governing compensation and benefits, including FLSA, ACA, ERISA, FMLA, 401(k)/retirement compliance, and IRS/DOL requirements
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills; ability to advise and influence senior leaders with confidence and credibility
• Operates as a player-coach — executes hands-on with high autonomy while bringing enough strategic depth to serve as a credible thought partner to the VP, Human Capital
• High degree of discretion, integrity, and independent judgment in handling sensitive and confidential information
• Experience using generative AI tools such as Claude and Copilot to improve productivity and deliver high-quality outcomes
• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, Finance, or related discipline required
• CCP (Certified Compensation Professional) or CEBS (Certified Employee Benefit Specialist) strongly preferred; HRCI or SHRM certification a plus
