What's in StoreThe Senior Excess Adjuster is responsible for investigating, evaluating, negotiating, and resolving complex and high exposure liability claims in accordance with company policies, client service standards, and regulatory requirements. Claims handled may include Commercial General Liability, Employer’s Liability, Professional Liability, Law Enforcement Liability, and other casualty or commercial liability exposures. This includes the investigation, determination and evaluation of coverage, liability and damages, and the setting of proper reserves. Identification of applicable insurance, beyond the client’s retention, and timely initial and supplemental reporting to applicable carriers is required.

Key Responsibilities
- Report to excess and reinsurers on all PGIT SIR members.
- Responsible for investigating and resolving coverage issues between PGIT/PGCS and the excess carrier.
- Monitor the TPA’s handling and assist in obtaining settlement from the respective excess and reinsurers.
- Handle claim reporting consistent with our clients and PGCS policies and claims procedure manual and also in accordance to any statutory, regulatory and ethics requirements.
- Analyze claim exposures, determine the proper courses of action make recommendations to the TPA’s regarding reserving, litigation and settlement as warranted. Interact extensively with various parties involved in the claim process.
- Handle claims consistent with best practices, client and company policies and procedures and also in accordance with statutory, regulatory and ethical requirements.
- Document and communicate all claim activity timely and effectively which supports the outcome of claim files, in accordance with established procedures.
- Utilize a system diary system effectively and appropriately to keep excess and reinsurers advised of status.
- Examine and address claim files reserves for accuracy.
- Maintain current knowledge of laws and statutes pertinent to liability claims handling, maintain CEUs and licensing in current and/or active status, as appropriate.
- Issue reimbursement to members for amounts paid above the Self-Insured Retention.
Skills, knowledge & expertise
- Active Florida All-Lines Adjuster License (5-20 or 6-20).
- A minimum of five years handling all aspects of liability claims and subrogation with a consistent high level of performance and achievement.
- General liability, auto liability, complex and professional liability claims experience required.
- Experience handling Public Entity claims and exposures.
- Industry designations such as AIC, CPCU, or equivalent.
- Experience handling all aspects of liability claims.
- Extensive knowledge of applicable statutes, accepted industry standards, and practices.
- Ability to successfully evaluate documentation received from the TPA’s and make recommendations to the adjusters.
- Ability to effectively operate a personal computer and related claims and business software.
- Must be self-directed and able to work independently.
- Good communication skills, both oral and written; good customer service skills.
- Assertive self-starter with excellent organizational skills. Fast and accurate. Team player. Good attendance.
