What’s the position?

We are looking for a Sr QA Automation Engineer to join our quickly growing product and technology teams. As a Sr QA Automation Engineer, you will work as part of our QA team to develop and execute an automated test strategy that provides a high level of quality confidence throughout all aspects of our SDLC. The role requires an individual who’s dedicated to the customer’s experience, able to clearly voice and document issues and concerns within their testing focus. You will be responsible for the quality, scope and timeliness of all your deliverables. We will be reliant on your skills and your passion and ownership over all aspects of your work.

As a Senior QA Automation Engineer, your responsibilities will include:

• Apply testing pyramid principles and white-box techniques to determine the right testing approach when analyzing a feature for automation coverage, yielding an efficient and scalable testing solution

• Design, implement, execute and maintain UI automated tests for our web application (Playwright/Python) and mobile application (Appium/Python) based on project requirements and specifications

• Design, implement, execute and maintain API automated tests in Python for the Hard Rock Digital technology stack

• Use AI tools to speed up your understanding of our platform and to accelerate development and maintenance of our automated tests

• Identify, own and drive architectural changes and refactoring efforts for the betterment of the QA team

• Work closely with the QA team to identify and prioritize areas for automation and create a roadmap for automation projects

• Provide code review guidance to team members, ensuring quality, stability and efficiency in our automated test solutions

• Mentor and provide guidance to members of the QA team

• Ensure compatibility and consistency of HRD applications across different browsers, devices and platforms

• Maintain comprehensive documentation for automated test scripts, frameworks and processes

• Conduct thorough regression testing and ensure the quality of software releases through automated testing and manual validation when necessary

• Perform root cause analysis for identified defects and work collaboratively with the development team to resolve issues

• Collaborate with developers, product owners and other stakeholders to understand requirements and provide input on testability and quality aspects

• Stay updated on industry best practices, emerging technologies and testing tools to continuously improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the QA process

• Learn our applications inside and out, and become a subject matter expert

Key skills required for this position:

• 5+ years of experience in automation testing (API, Playwright and Appium frameworks)

• Thorough understanding of the testing pyramid with a keen sense for which tests belong where in the testing pyramid

• Proficiency in Python is essential

• Critical, questioning approach to AI-generated output, with a commitment to sound design principles and coding standards

• Experience developing AI skills

• Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment

• Understanding of web technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript and knowledge of browser developer tools

• Familiarity with mobile operating systems (iOS and Android) and understanding of mobile app development

• Experience with version control systems such as Git for code repository management

• Experience with building CI/CD (GitHub Actions) pipelines and integration of automated tests into the development workflow

• In-depth knowledge of quality assurance principles, best practices and testing standards

• Strong analytical skills to identify patterns, trends and possible areas of improvement

• Meticulous attention to detail in creating, executing and maintaining test scripts

• Commitment to continuous learning and staying updated on industry trends and emerging technologies
