About this role

Come Make an Impact on Millions of Brazilians!

At RecargaPay, we’re on a mission to deliver the best payment experience for Brazilian consumers and small businesses, by building a powerful digital ecosystem where the banked and unbanked connect, and where consumers and merchants have a one-stop shop for all their financial needs.

We serve over 10 million users and process more than USD 4 billion annually. We’ve been profitable since 2022 and operate our own credit business. We are an AI-first, 100% remote team, scaling in the rapidly changing Brazilian financial market.

Our goal? Deliver the best payment experience in Brazil for people and small businesses alike.

We value autonomy, ownership, and a bias for action. We’re looking for people who are curious, hands-on, and driven by impact, who want to solve real problems, work with strong teams, and rethink what’s possible.

If you’re ready to do your best work, at scale, with purpose, this is your place.

Responsibilities

Lead hands-on custom code activities for SAP S/4HANA release upgrades, including custom code impact analysis (ATC, Simplification Item checks, Custom Code Migration), SPDD/SPAU adjustments, remediation of obsolete or incompatible objects, cleanup of modifications and enhancements, technical regression support, cutover support, hypercare, and post-upgrade stabilization in coordination with the Basis and functional teams.

Assess the current custom code landscape, identifying unused or duplicated objects, modifications to SAP standard, undocumented developments, performance hotspots, security exposures in custom code, clean-core violations, integration dependencies, technical debt, partner dependencies, and opportunities for simplification, refactoring, or automation.

Help define the SAP development operating model, including coding standards, naming conventions, code review practices, ATC baseline and check variants, ABAP Unit expectations, technical specification templates, definition of done, transport discipline, release participation, partner handoffs, and audit evidence practices for changes.

Provide hands-on ABAP development for regulatory and fiscal changes impacting Brazil, including Reforma Tributária, SAP Notes implementation with manual steps and code adjustments, localization extensions (tax determination, NF-e, DRC / Document and Reporting Compliance, SPED and related obligations), technical impact analysis, and support to functional changes led by FI/CO, Tax, Product, and external partners.

Design, build, test, and maintain custom developments end to end on S/4HANA, including reports and programs, enhancements (BAdIs, enhancement spots, implicit enhancements), CDS views, AMDP, RAP-based services, OData services for Fiori applications, forms (Adobe Forms / Smart Forms), background jobs, data migration and correction programs, and interfaces (IDoc, RFC/BAPI, OData, REST via ABAP HTTP client, proxies).

Apply clean-core principles in daily development, favoring released APIs and extensibility options (in-app, developer, and side-by-side extensibility) over modifications, reducing the custom code footprint, and preparing the landscape for future upgrades and ABAP Cloud adoption where applicable.

Own custom code quality through ATC and Code Inspector, ABAP Unit tests, peer code review, and performance analysis (SQL Monitor, ST05, SAT, runtime analysis), ensuring HANA-optimized code (code pushdown, efficient data access) and durable, maintainable solutions.

Govern the technical side of change management through STMS and ChaRM / SAP Cloud ALM, ensuring traceability between requirements, technical specifications, transports, and test evidence, segregation of duties, emergency-change control, approval evidence, and safe promotion across DEV, QAS, and PRD.

Apply secure coding practices in partnership with Security and GRC stakeholders, including proper authorization checks in custom objects, Code Vulnerability Analyzer findings remediation, protection against SQL injection and directory traversal, secure handling of personal and sensitive data, logging and audit trail requirements, and evidence generation aligned with LGPD, BACEN, and SOX where applicable.

Develop and support the ABAP side of integrations, including SAP Integration Suite / CPI scenarios (proxies, OData and REST endpoints, IDoc and RFC interfaces), interface monitoring and error handling from the application perspective, certificate and connectivity troubleshooting together with Basis, and coordination with integration developers or external partners for iflow changes.

Lead troubleshooting and root-cause analysis of complex application-level incidents, including short dumps (ST22), failed background jobs, interface and runtime failures, performance degradation in custom code, authorization-related blockers in custom programs, data inconsistencies, and upgrade defects, ensuring durable corrective actions and clear documentation.

Support functional teams and the Product Owner with technical feasibility assessments, effort estimates, technical specifications, debugging of SAP standard code, SAP Notes analysis and validation, and translation of business requirements into robust technical designs.

Act as the internal ABAP counterpart for implementation partners and AMS providers, reviewing and challenging technical designs, code quality, enhancement approach, SAP Notes strategy, transport sequencing, test evidence, security implications, documentation, and production-readiness criteria.

Establish technical acceptance criteria for partner deliveries, including technical specifications, code review results, ATC compliance, unit and regression test evidence, rollback plans, performance validation, operational documentation, and handover quality.

Create and maintain technical documentation, custom object inventories, technical specifications, developer guidelines, interface and job runbooks, known-error databases, and audit evidence repositories, ensuring readiness for internal, external, BACEN, LGPD, and SOX-related reviews.

Use AI-assisted engineering tools responsibly for code generation, code review, test generation, ATC finding remediation, log and dump analysis, documentation, and knowledge base creation, ensuring all outputs are reviewed and validated before use in production or audit-relevant contexts.

Soft Skills

Industry-Specific Knowledge

It is highly desirable for the SAP Basis & Platform Specialist to have experience operating SAP technology in regulated, high-volume environments such as fintech, banking, payments, retail, or e-commerce. Strong candidates will understand how regulatory frameworks such as BACEN, LGPD, and SOX, as well as Brazilian fiscal complexity and recurring legal changes, impact SAP platform operations, release planning, transport governance, audit evidence, security controls, integration reliability, and production readiness. Current examples in the portfolio include SAP S/4HANA release upgrades and the Brazilian Tax Reform transition, with similar regulatory initiatives expected over time.

Experience in how these domains intersect to influence revenue, risk management, and customer satisfaction is highly valued.

Ideally, candidates will have applied this knowledge to deliver solutions such as loan-origination engines with real-time decisioning; scalable payment-processing platforms integrated with core banking systems and third-party gateways; secure open-finance interfaces compliant with industry regulations; automated fraud-detection pipelines leveraging behavioral analytics; or financial reporting and reconciliation engines for regulatory compliance. The ability to translate complex compliance mandates (e.g., KYC/AML, PCI-DSS, GDPR) into resilient, high-performance systems without compromising user experience is considered a strong asset.
