The Role

We’re seeking a Sales Engineering Director to lead and scale our pre-sales organization supporting enterprise revenue growth across key regions and strategic accounts.

This is a highly visible leadership role at the intersection of technical strategy, customer engagement, and revenue execution. You will build and mentor a team of high-performing Sales Engineers while also acting as a senior technical leader in the field—partnering with Sales, Product, and executive stakeholders to win complex enterprise deals.

You will play a critical role in positioning Vega as a foundational security analytics platform, capable of replacing or augmenting legacy SIEM and security data architectures at enterprise scale.

This role is open to candidates located in the North East and New England areas of the U.S.



What You’ll Do

• Lead & Scale the Sales Engineering Function
• Hire, develop, and manage a team of Sales Engineers supporting enterprise and strategic accounts
• Establish best practices for technical sales, discovery, demos, and proof-of-value engagements
• Drive consistency and excellence across the pre-sales lifecycle
• Own Technical Strategy for Revenue
• Partner with Sales leadership to define and execute regional and segment-level technical sales strategies
• Align SE resources to high-priority opportunities and accounts
• Act as an executive sponsor on key deals, helping navigate complex technical and organizational challenges
• Engage in Strategic Deals
• Serve as the senior technical advisor on high-value enterprise opportunities
• Support complex sales cycles from discovery through close, including architecture design and executive presentations
• Guide customers through evaluations, pilots, and PoV engagements with clear articulation of ROI and business impact
• Drive Customer & Market Influence
• Build trusted relationships with CISOs, security leaders, and platform teams
• Lead executive briefings, architecture reviews, and strategic account engagements
• Position Vega as a strategic alternative to legacy SIEM, security analytics, and data platforms
• Cross-Functional Leadership
• Partner closely with Product and Engineering to translate customer feedback into roadmap insights
• Collaborate with Marketing and Sales Enablement to refine messaging, demos, and technical positioning
• Influence go-to-market strategy based on field insights and competitive dynamics
• Operational Excellence
• Establish metrics and processes to track technical win rates, PoV success, and sales cycle efficiency
• Ensure high-quality technical documentation, evaluation plans, and CRM hygiene across the team
• Continuously improve tools, assets, and workflows to scale the organization effectively

Requirements

What You Will Bring

• 8–12+ years of experience in Sales Engineering, Solutions Engineering, or Pre-Sales within cybersecurity or enterprise software
• 3+ years of experience leading or mentoring Sales Engineering teams
• Deep technical expertise in modern security architectures, including SIEM, XDR, security data lakes, log management, and cloud-scale analytics
• Proven success supporting and closing complex enterprise deals with multiple stakeholders and long evaluation cycles
• Strong leadership presence with the ability to engage CISOs, VP-level security leaders, and executive buyers
• Experience designing and communicating scalable architectures across AWS, Azure, and/or GCP
• Track record of building and scaling processes in high-growth, fast-paced environments
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts into clear business value
• Strong cross-functional collaboration skills across Sales, Product, and Engineering
• Willingness to travel for strategic customer and team engagements

Nice to Have

• Hands-on experience deploying or migrating SIEM platforms at enterprise scale
• Familiarity with large-scale log ingestion pipelines, detection engineering, and SOC workflows
• Experience in early-stage startups (Series B/C)
• Familiarity with Vega’s mission, architecture, or AI-native approach to security operations
