Our Opportunity:

Purdue Global is seeking a proactive, detailed, curious storyteller to manage the university’s digital content on Reddit and YouTube. The Digital Content Specialist will serve as the lead “voice” on these two platforms, managing organic and paid content campaigns, engaging with the communities and conducting social listening and reporting. This individual will be responsible for driving visibility, engagement, and trust with prospective students across relevant communities, while supporting broader content and SEO/GEO/AIO initiatives. This role blends strategy, writing, and community development to ensure Purdue Global shows up credibly and consistently in Reddit conversations and on YouTube.

This role will be a member of the Purdue Global Social Media team and will work with both internal and external partners in multiple departments such as programming, marketing, operations, financial strategy and legal, etc. This role will be hands-on in the creation of content specifically for Reddit and YouTube, proactively keeping up with trends and offering ideas for content that will resonate with Purdue Global’s audiences. They will also support their team members in the management of social media content on additional Purdue Global owned channels.

The ideal candidate has at least 3 years of experience in social media management and production. The candidate must be comfortable actively monitoring and engaging on Reddit and YouTube while operating in the Purdue Global voice. The candidate must be ready to hit the ground running, and juggle multiple projects at once.

What to expect in this role:

Community Engagement & Reputation Building
- Monitor conversations and trends within relevant online education and career communities.
- Engage in authentic, non-promotional discussions to build karma and credibility.
- Respond to questions and comments to position Purdue Global as an expert who is an empathetic and informed participant.
- Ability to identify and analyze emerging YouTube trends, translating insights into actionable content strategies.
Content Execution & Adaptation
- Collaborate with the content and SEO teams to adapt Purdue Global content into Reddit-friendly or YouTube formats.
- Draft and schedule posts that align with the brand’s tone and strategic priorities.
- Coordinate and support live Reddit activations, such as AMAs, with internal subject matter experts.
- Identify key YouTube metrics, track audience behavior and derive strategic insights to continuously optimize performance and inform future content plans.
- Proactively monitor and learn about AI trends and explore innovative opportunities in SEO, GEO, and AIO to drive continuous growth and optimization.
Campaign Support & Community Activation
- Maintain an awareness of seasonal discussion peaks (ie, enrollment deadlines, financial aid periods).
- Test and report on the performance of new post formats and community participation strategies.
Governance & Risk Management
- Maintain internal Reddit playbooks and posting guidance.
- Monitor sentiment and escalate risks or sensitive topics to the appropriate internal teams.
- Liaise with moderators where applicable and maintain alignment with platform norms.
Insights Performance Reporting
- Track and report on KPIs such as engagement volume, upvotes, traffic referrals, and sentiment trends.
- Deliver monthly insights highlighting wins, risks, and learnings to inform ongoing strategy.
- Proactively offer recommendations of content strategy and ideas based on performance.
What Success Looks Like
- Growth in meaningful engagement (karma, upvotes, quality replies, YouTube engagement).
- Increase in referral traffic from Reddit and YouTube to Purdue Global’s website.
- Consistent participation in high-visibility discussions relevant to online education.
- Identification of strategic opportunities for Purdue Global to influence and educate prospective students .

Experience:

Bachelor’s degree required
3 years related experience
Background in higher education or digital marketing preferred.
Demonstrated experience in community management, social engagement, or content strategy.
Strong understanding of YouTube and Reddit culture, community guidelines, and platform mechanics.
Preferably based in the West Lafayette area, but not required.
