Position Summary

Assists investigators as coordinator of a complex clinical research study; may be responsible for multiple research studies simultaneously, acting as a liaison with the school, sponsoring agency, community, and study participants; has increasing responsibility for managing and recording all phases of study protocol as required by sponsoring agency to ensure compliance.

Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

• Confers with investigator to assist in developing plans for research projects and discuss the interpretation of results; collaborates in the preparation of manuscripts for publications and preparation of grant proposals to sponsoring agencies; assists in the preparation of amendments to protocols and/or modifications to study design as appropriate.

• Coordinates the development of forms, questionnaires, and the application of research techniques; assists in writing instructional procedure manuals for study progress, data collection and coding; reviews journals, abstracts and scientific literature to keep abreast of new developments and to obtain information regarding previous studies to aid in the planning of new studies.
• Routinely and with increasing independence implements manages, and ensures timely completion of all phases of study/protocol; assists investigator with development of participant recruitment plan; has increasing responsibility for: ensuring compliance with protocol guidelines and requirements of regulatory agencies; establishing record-keeping systems; making assessments and determinations of participants’ progress in the study and recording results into study database; analyzing, investigating, and reporting adverse events; making decisions as when to notify investigator of emergent issues, when to recommend stopping participant inclusion, and/or to make and/or recommend adjustment of the protocol of particular participants; resolving IRB/protocol management issues and recommends corrective action as appropriate; and serving as liaison with funding or sponsoring agency.
• Evaluates, analyzes, and interprets qualitative and/or quantitative data of moderate complexity in conjunction with PI as applicable and appropriate; with increasing independence, prepares oral or written presentations or reports and analyses setting forth progress trends and provides recommendations or conclusions of the same.
• Performs other duties incidental to the work described herein.

More About This Job

The Public Health Research Coordinator will work with clinical and research partners across projects to finalize study protocols and workflows, recruit and engage potential participants in informed consent processes, support study participation, and facilitate timely completion of study measures. They will also support the PI in coordinating project aims, timelines, deliverables, and day-to-day research activities across multiple projects. Because projects will be conducted in hospice and palliative care settings, the Coordinator should be comfortable and willing to engage with patients and families experiencing serious illness.

Salary Range

$26.25 - $39.36 / HourlyThe salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
