About the Role

Our team is seeking a Power Apps/Power BI Developer to join our fast-growing IT-project based consulting business. We need a team member who is ready to build and implement innovative Power Platform and business intelligence solutions to support the missions of our customers. We have several large projects, some established, some just getting started, at the Department of Veterans Affairs and we need smart team members to help us deliver.

The successful candidate will be an inquisitive problem solver who enjoys turning data and business processes into intuitive applications and actionable dashboards. In this fully remote role, you will build and enhance Power Apps interfaces, develop reporting that leadership uses to measure program performance and contractor accountability, and contribute creative solutions to our customers' challenges. You will work and collaborate on a team of project managers, business analysts, developers/engineers, and QA staff within an Agile environment. As a crucial member of our team, you will also be expected to interface with client representatives, including product owners, business owners, and technical leads.

Responsibilities

• Build, enhance, and maintain Power Apps that serve as the user interface for a custom-developed, Azure-hosted enterprise system.
• Develop Power BI reports and dashboards, including data models, DAX measures, and Power Query transformations.
• Build local, regional, and national reporting using dashboards, charts, maps, and other visualization formats.
• Integrate and transform data from Microsoft SQL Server, enterprise data warehouses, and external partner data sources that refresh daily.
• Configure and maintain Power BI data gateway connections and scheduled refreshes.
• Perform data quality analysis to identify trends, outliers, and issues requiring upstream remediation.
• Implement role-based access and row-level security for applications and reports.
• Ensure applications and reports meet Section 508 accessibility requirements.
• Participate in requirements analysis and provide input on level of effort estimates.
• Participate in PI Planning, sprint planning, and other Agile ceremonies.
• Manage source code and report artifacts using Git (e.g., GitHub).
• Collaborate with product owners, business owners, technical leads, and solution architects to translate requirements into working solutions.
• Support security and Authority to Operate (ATO) compliance activities.
• Participate in peer reviews of apps, reports, and data models.
• Develop documentation throughout the software development life cycle (SDLC).

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related technical field
• Minimum of three (3) years of experience in application development, reporting, or business intelligence
• Minimum of two (2) years of on-the-job experience developing Power Apps
• Minimum of two (2) years of on-the-job experience developing Power BI reports and dashboards
• Working proficiency with DAX, Power Query (M), and data modeling
• Working proficiency with Microsoft SQL Server, T-SQL, and SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS)
• Experience with Power BI data gateways and scheduled refreshes
• Experience with row-level security and role-based access
• Experience with Git version control (e.g., GitHub)
• Familiarity with Section 508 accessibility requirements
• Minimum one (1) year of experience working in an Agile framework
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Military experienced candidates are encouraged
• Candidates will need to obtain Security Clearance of Public Trust once hired
• Work is full-time 100% remote

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Power Automate, Dataverse, and model-driven apps
• Experience with SQL Server Data Tools (SSDT), including SSIS, Visual Studio, and .NET Framework applications hosted on IIS
• Experience working in Microsoft Azure government cloud environments, including SQL Server workloads hosted in Azure
• Experience with CI/CD or DevSecOps pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps)
• Experience with Jira and Confluence
• Experience working in a Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) environment
• Experience building map-based and geospatial visualizations in Power BI
• Experience with healthcare data, including VA Corporate Data Warehouse (CDW) and community care data
• Experience with Federal government agencies, specifically with VA
