About this role

Role Title: Passport Acceptance Agent

Role Type: Contractor

Location: Remote

Time Commitment: 20-30 hours/week, short-term project

micro1 is looking for Passport Acceptance Agents to help evaluate and improve AI systems on passport topics. You’ll use your front-counter experience to check that questions sound like real applicants and that answers are correct and useful. Accuracy comes first. No AI experience is needed; your domain knowledge is what matters.

Scope of Work

  1. Review sample passport questions and flag any that don’t sound like what real applicants ask.
  2. Write rubrics that define a correct, complete answer on new applications, renewals, and replacements, including forms, fees, and processing options.
  3. Cover identity and citizenship documents, photo requirements, and applications for minors in your rubrics.
  4. Evaluate AI-generated answers against your rubrics, flagging errors, omissions, and outdated guidance.
  5. Share clear written feedback with the project team, working asynchronously.

Required Qualifications

  1. Current or recent passport acceptance agent designation (post office, county clerk, library, or similar)
  2. 1+ years helping the public with passport applications
  3. Working knowledge of forms, fees, ID and citizenship documents, and rules for minors
  4. US-based
  5. Able to start quickly and commit 20-30 hours/week
  6. Clear, precise writing

Nice to Have

  1. Experience with lost, stolen, or damaged passports and name changes
  2. Experience creating guides, checklists, or training materials
  3. Experience helping a diverse range of applicants, including rural and non-English-speaking customers
