Outbound Email Copywriter (BBS895)

We're looking for an Outbound Email Copywriter to devise and write cold email campaigns for a fast-growing B2B sales intelligence platform serving GTM teams that sell into local and vertical SMB markets. You will own the strategy and execution of outbound email campaigns, researching ICPs and pain points, building copy angles, writing sequences that get opened and replied to, and optimizing based on results.

This is a writing-first role. You need substantial B2B outbound email experience, ideally across a wide variety of SMB verticals. You should know how to research an ICP, identify pain points that actually land, build a compelling copy angle, structure a proper sequence, and A/B test your way to better performance over time. Past campaign results are required to apply. You will be working inside the company's own in-house platform, which combines a database of businesses and contact information with an enrichment tool that functions similarly to Clay, allowing you to create customized research variables per prospect. You will also use general AI tools and web research to inform personalization and messaging. What You'll Work On

ICP Research and Copy Strategy

• Research ICPs, pain points, and buying triggers across a wide range of SMB verticals including HVAC, dental, restaurants, and others
• Build copy angles that speak directly to real prospect problems rather than generic value propositions
• Use the company's in-house enrichment platform to build customized research variables per prospect and leverage them for meaningful personalization
• Use general AI tools and web research to deepen prospect understanding and sharpen messaging

Sequence Writing and Campaign Execution

• Write proper cold email sequences from subject line through follow-ups that generate opens, replies, and meetings
• Structure sequences with the right cadence, tone, and escalation logic for each vertical and ICP
• Develop and test multiple messaging angles per campaign to identify what resonates best
• Manage multiple active campaigns simultaneously without losing quality or attention to detail

A/B Testing and Optimization

• A/B test subject lines, opening lines, CTAs, and sequence structures systematically
• Analyze campaign performance data including open rates, reply rates, and positive response rates and use it to improve copy
• Identify what is working across campaigns and apply learnings quickly to new sequences
• Flag underperforming campaigns early and propose specific copy changes to improve results

Collaboration and Documentation

• Work closely with the GTM and sales team to align email messaging with broader campaign goals and ICP priorities
• Maintain organized campaign documentation including copy versions, test results, and performance notes

What You Bring

• Substantial B2B outbound email experience with a track record of campaigns that generated real replies and meetings across a variety of SMB verticals — this is the primary requirement
• Ability to research an ICP, identify genuine pain points, and build copy angles that land rather than generic pitches
• Knows how to structure a proper cold email sequence and understands cadence, tone, and escalation logic
• Strong A/B testing discipline with the ability to optimize campaigns based on real performance data rather than gut feel
• Past campaign results to show — open rates, reply rates, meetings booked, or similar metrics are required to apply
• Comfortable working inside a proprietary enrichment or research platform and using custom prospect data to inform personalization
• Comfortable using AI tools and web research as part of the research and writing process
• Excellent written English with a direct, concise, and human communication style

Nice to Have

• Experience with Clay or a similar prospect enrichment and research platform
• Background in outbound sales or SDR work that gives you firsthand understanding of what buyers respond to
• Experience writing cold email for a B2B SaaS, sales intelligence, or data platform
• Familiarity with cold email tools such as Instantly, Smartlead, or Apollo
