Role summary:
As a (USA) Merchant, you will lead category strategy development and execution, driving financial performance and supplier management for a moderately complex category. This role requires making informed decisions on pricing, promotions, and channel alignment while leveraging data insights to optimize assortment and customer experience. You will manage a cross-functional team, oversee supplier negotiations, and support operational initiatives to meet business objectives. The position demands strong leadership, strategic thinking, and collaboration across functions to deliver value and maintain competitive advantage within Walmart’s retail environment.

The Meat & Seafood team is a results-driven group of merchants dedicated to delivering exceptional value to Sam’s Club Members. Operating in a commodity-driven environment, the team collaborates closely to safeguard and enhance the meaningful value provided. They develop and execute category strategies, manage supplier relationships, and oversee financial performance to meet business objectives. With a focus on data-driven decision-making and operational excellence, the team supports continuous improvement and innovation to ensure a superior customer experience across all channels.

What you'll do...

• Develop and execute category strategies aligned with long-term business plans to drive growth and profitability.
• Manage pricing, promotion, and channel strategies to optimize category performance and customer experience.
• Oversee supplier negotiations, establish terms, and monitor supplier execution to ensure alignment with business objectives.
• Analyze market trends, customer behavior, and competitive landscape to inform decision-making and category adjustments.
• Lead and develop team members, setting performance expectations and fostering a collaborative work environment.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to support financial forecasting, inventory management, and merchandising initiatives.
• Utilize data analytics to identify opportunities, measure progress, and implement continuous improvements.

What you'll bring:

• Proven experience in category strategy development and execution for moderately complex categories.
• Strong financial management skills, including profit and loss ownership and budget forecasting.
• Expertise in supplier management, negotiation, and performance tracking.
• Ability to analyze market trends, customer behavior, and competitive landscape to inform decisions.
• Demonstrated leadership in team management, including coaching, development, and performance evaluation.
• Proficiency in driving omni-channel customer-focused strategies and operational excellence.
• Skilled in leveraging data analytics and digital tools to influence business outcomes and continuous improvement.

The annual salary range for this position is $90,000.00 - $180,000.00

Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.
