About the Role

FMG Testimonials helps financial advisors collect, review, and publish client testimonials and reviews. We are hiring a Lead Software Engineer, Testimonials to own the day-to-day engineering of this platform.

This is a hands-on lead role. You will be the senior technical owner of the Testimonials codebase and infrastructure, working directly with Product on roadmap and delivery, and setting the technical direction for a small, focused team. It is deliberately weighted toward building: we want someone who leads by doing the hardest work on the team and bringing others along, not someone who manages from a distance.

You will report to the SVP of Engineering and partner closely with Testimonials product leadership.

Our ideal candidate is a senior engineer who has been the technical anchor for a product — someone comfortable owning a Kubernetes-based service end to end, who has taken a platform through a compliance certification or is eager to, and who wants the ownership of a whole product rather than a slice of a large one.

Compensation This position offers $150,000-$160,000 depending on qualifications and experience.

Primary Responsibilities & Expectations

Technical Ownership

• Own the Testimonials platform end to end — architecture, code quality, infrastructure, and production reliability
• Operate and evolve the Kubernetes-based deployment: scaling, observability, cost, and release process
• Make and document the architectural decisions for the platform
• Maintain and improve the platform's operational documentation

Delivery Leadership

• Run day-to-day delivery for the Testimonials team: scoping, sequencing, and shipping against the product roadmap
• Partner directly with Product on roadmap tradeoffs, technical feasibility, and release planning
• Set and hold the engineering standard for the team through code review, design review, and mentorship
• Lead a small team of engineers, growing their technical range and ownership

Compliance & Security

• Own the engineering workstream for SOC 2 compliance — access management, audit evidence, change control, and secure development practices
• Partner with InfoSec and Compliance on the controls that keep a regulated-industry product defensible
• Build compliance-aware features

Platform Integration & AI

• Lead the technical work integrating Testimonials with the broader FMG platform — shared identity, data, and adjacent business systems
• Partner with FMG's AI Architecture function to bring agentic and AI-assisted capabilities into the Testimonials experience
• Adopt FMG's AI-native development tooling and standards, and contribute back what works for a small team

Required Skills and Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering experience, including senior or lead technical ownership of a production SaaS product
• Strong hands-on experience running services on Kubernetes, including deployment, observability, and troubleshooting in production
• Demonstrated ownership of a codebase end to end
• Experience leading a small team or workstream: setting standards, reviewing work, and developing other engineers
• Comfortable partnering directly with Product on roadmap and tradeoffs, and communicating clearly with non-technical stakeholders
• Track record of shipping reliably in a small-team environment where you own more than one discipline
• Comfortable with ambiguity and shifting scope in a fast-moving environment

• Experience with SOC 2, ISO 27001, or an equivalent compliance certification
• Background in wealth management, insurance, or other regulated financial services software
• Experience integrating an acquired product into a larger platform
• Hands-on experience with AI-assisted or agentic development tooling
• Experience with review, reputation, or content-moderation products
• Familiarity with CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code, and observability tooling (DataDog, CloudWatch, or equivalent)
