IT Architect
About this role
This is a remote position.
We are looking for a Senior IT Architect to design and develop complex, scalable enterprise systems using modernsoftware architecture patterns, microservices, and distributed technologies. The role focuses on defining system architecture, applyingBDD, DDD, CQRS, Hexagonal and Event-Driven Architecture, and designing secure REST APIs and cloud-native solutions usingDocker, Kubernetes, AWS or Azure. The architect will work closely with development and infrastructure teams to ensure system scalability, reliability, security, and maintainability, leveraging technologies such asJava, Spring Boot, Kafka, and enterprise integration platforms.Responsibilities
- Design and further develop complex, modular enterprise applications and systems
- Define system and software architecture for scalable and maintainable solutions
- Design and implement systems and microservices usingBDD, DDD and CQRS
- Apply architecture patterns includingHexagonal Architecture, Onion Architecture, layered, event-driven and multi-tier architecture
- Design, build and secureRESTful APIs and web services
- Work with microservices and distributed systems
- Support architecture around asynchronous communication and publish/subscribe technologies such asApache Kafka and JMS
- Design solutions using cloud platforms such asAWS, Azure or OVH
- Work with containerisation and orchestration technologies includingDocker and Kubernetes
- Ensure security, observability, reliability and maintainability of the designed solutions
- Cooperate with development teams working across front-end, back-end, cloud and infrastructure
Requirements
Senior-level experience inIT / Solution / Software Architecture
StrongSystem Design and Architecturebackground
Experience withBDD (Behaviour Driven Development)andDDD (Domain Driven Design)
Microservices and distributed systemsarchitecture
REST APIsand web services
Docker and Kubernetes
Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure or OVH)
English – minimumB2(C1 preferred)
Legal eligibility to work within the EU
Availability for occasional business trips to Brussels (up to 5 days per quarter)
Education and experience requirements:
Master's degree (EQF Level 7) + minimum15 years of professional IT experience, OR
Bachelor's degree (EQF Level 6) + minimum17 years of professional IT experience
