Intermediate Business Intelligence Analyst

We are seeking a Intermediate Business Intelligence Analyst to support a public sector organization's data strategy and modernization initiatives. This role is fundamental to designing and developing analytical data products and services that enable the organization to leverage its data assets effectively. The successful analyst will translate complex data into actionable business insights that support strategic decision-making across departments and with external stakeholders, working within a collaborative team environment to deliver high-quality analysis, data modeling, visualizations, and evidence-based recommendations.

This position requires someone who can deliver business intelligence capabilities and develop data products based on various datasets to support internal and external client needs. The role encompasses data analysis, data modeling, statistical analysis, data quality audits, data mining, and the creation of dashboards and custom reporting from multiple data sources. Responsibilities include gathering and documenting client requirements, designing and developing data products, capturing business and technical metadata, performing trend analysis and forecasting, developing baseline metrics and key results, integrating quantitative and qualitative data to create insights, and escalating issues and risks as appropriate. This role will work within a multi-vendor and multi-staff environment to support strategic business planning and facilitate evidence-based decision-making across the organization.

Qualifications

• 5+ years - direct hands-on experience designing, developing, and optimizing advanced Power BI solutions that transform regulated and complex datasets into actionable insights for policy, operations and executive reporting
• 5+ years - direct hands-on experience with a comprehensive set of visualization techniques and features demonstrating technical depth and storytelling skill using Power BI
• 5+ years - direct hands-on experience analyzing large complex datasets to perform trend analysis, predictive analytics, and forecasting using Power BI and Azure analytics tools
• 5+ years - experience presenting and storytelling to effectively communicate data-driven insights to executives and business users within a government organization
• 5+ years - experience understanding and developing requirements for analytical projects
• Bachelor degree in Computer Science or related field of study, or equivalent qualifications

Nice to Have

• 5+ years - direct hands-on experience translating business requirements into analytical solutions and communicating findings effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders to deliver end-to-end BI solutions
• 5+ years - experience combining raw data from a variety of data sources within and across domains
• 5+ years - experience dealing with clients and explaining complex data principles in a thoughtful manner
• 5+ years - experience developing complex measures, calculated columns, and advanced time intelligence using DAX (Data Analysis Expressions) in Power BI
• 3+ years - direct hands-on experience in SQL for data transformations, querying, and analytical processing in large scale environments
• 5+ years - experience preparing visualizations, dashboards, and analytical models
• 3+ years - experience working with large government datasets
