PATH is entering an important new chapter. As the organization approaches its 50th anniversary, the PATH 2030 strategy is sharpening a focus on the places where PATH's partnerships, technical expertise, and country platforms can make the greatest difference. Philanthropy will be central to that next chapter – helping PATH mobilize more catalytic and flexible resources for practical, high-impact solutions to urgent global health challenges.

The Head of Philanthropy will lead this next phase of individual and family giving. This role is about more than closing gifts. It is about building trusted relationships with donors who share PATH's commitment to health equity, while helping shape a philanthropy function that is relationship-centered, strategic, and closely connected to PATH's priorities.

Reporting to the Chief Global Health Programs Officer, this leader will work closely with executive leadership, program and regional teams, marketing and communications, and the Board to align philanthropic investment with PATH's evolving strategic priorities and the organization's most important impactful opportunities. The Head of Philanthropy leads a team of approximately six and shapes the team's structure, priorities, and ways of working to deliver the philanthropy strategy, with a dedicated program budget.

Candidate Profile

Required Qualifications

• 10+ years of progressive experience in major gifts, principal gifts, or high-net-worth fundraising, with a record of leading transformational asks and closing multiple seven-figure gifts
• A strong record of building or significantly strengthening a development function, including team leadership, systems improvement, and culture-setting.
• Fluency in the individual and family philanthropy landscape, including family offices, donor-advised funds, legacy giving structures, and impact-oriented giving.
• Command of the data side of modern fundraising: prospect research and wealth screening, moves management, CRM discipline, and the analytics needed to build and defend a pipeline forecast.
• Demonstrated ability to partner with technical and scientific colleagues and to translate complex R&D, product development, and health systems work into rigorous investment cases; scientific or technical literacy – the judgment to know which expertise to bring into a donor conversation and when – is essential.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the presence to represent PATH credibly with sophisticated donors.
• Experience working in complex, matrixed organizations and the judgment to navigate relationships, priorities, and institutional dynamics with diplomacy.
• A genuine commitment to global health equity and the ability to represent PATH’s mission and strategy with authenticity.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in global health, international development, science, public health, or another field where donor trust depends on evidence, transparency, and strong technical credibility.
• Experience with anniversary campaigns, special initiatives, pooled funds, flexible funding vehicles, or other campaign-like fundraising efforts.
• Existing relationships in Seattle, New York, the Bay Area, or other philanthropic networks relevant to PATH’s current and future donor base.

We offer our employees a competitive salary and generous benefits. For candidates based in the U.S., the annual salary range for this position is $230,000- $260,000. The final salary is based on a variety of objective factors.
