Head of Credit & Collections

CAC 2000 is a JSE-listed commercial HVAC engineering company and the Jamaican representative for Carrier and LG. We deliver air conditioning projects and service for hotels, commercial clients, and government. We are reorganizing the business and building a first-class credit and collections function.

The role

You will own how we get paid. You will lead the redesign of our receivables process, set credit policy, and build and manage a small collections team. You report to senior management and work closely with Finance, Projects, and Sales.

Responsibilities

• Reduce overdue receivables and DSO through structured, disciplined follow-up
• Design and run credit policy: customer limits, terms, approvals, and escalation
• Resolve disputes, documentation gaps, and retention issues with clients
• Negotiate payment plans and recover aged balances
• Manage relationships with hotel finance teams, ministry and statutory accounts officers, and commercial clients
• Build, coach, and manage a collections team
• Report weekly to management on aging, promises to pay, and recoveries
• Work with Project Managers so billing and certification are right before invoices go out

Requirements

• 8+ years in credit control, collections, or commercial recoveries (banking, utilities, distribution, or contracting preferred)
• Experience collecting from government and hospitality debtors is a strong advantage
• Able to read contracts, certificates, and variations, and to explain why an invoice is or isn’t payable
• Proven record of reducing aged debt
• Strong negotiator: firm, professional, and persistent
• Experience leading a team
• Proficient in Excel and ERP-based aging and reporting (Acumatica experience an advantage)
• Degree or professional qualification in accounting, finance, or business (ACCA, CPA, or equivalent preferred)
