Financial Systems Expert
About this role
Role Title: Financial Systems & Accounting Expert
Role Type: Contractor
Location: Remote
micro1 is engaging Financial Systems & Accounting Experts to support a customer project focused on accounting operations and financial systems. In this role, you'll apply your expertise to help train next-generation AI systems. Your work will shape how models learn, reason, and perform through high-quality, real-world input. No prior experience in AI is required — your domain knowledge is what matters. Accounting proficiency is the primary focus, but this project also requires prior paid experience with human data activities for AI models, such as data labeling, annotation, RLHF, AI response evaluation, model evaluation, or rubric-based grading. Please note: simply using AI-enabled features in accounting software does not fulfill this requirement. This is an opportunity to apply your accounting judgment alongside hands-on ERP and financial systems knowledge, covering processes from transaction capture to month-end close and financial reporting.
Scope of Work
- Evaluate AI-generated accounting output for technical accuracy, including treatments, calculations, journal entries, and explanations, in line with established accounting standards.
- Review, analyze, and annotate financial statements, reconciliations, and close workpapers, identifying misstatements and providing correct treatments with rationale.
- Assess accounting workflows and financial systems logic across platforms such as NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks, Xero, and Dynamics 365.
- Consistently apply written rubrics and grading guidelines when rating or ranking model output, flagging ambiguous cases as needed.
- Contribute real-world accounting scenarios and reference answers that reflect actual practices in modern financial systems.
- Deliver clear, actionable written feedback to project and model teams to support ongoing system improvement.
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in financial accounting, month-end close, corporate accounting, audit, bookkeeping, financial reporting, management or cost accounting, or FP&A with substantive accounting work.
- Proven experience preparing or reviewing journal entries, reconciliations, or financial statements.
- Hands-on work with financial systems such as NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks, Xero, Sage Intacct, Dynamics 365, Workday, or comparable systems; strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel environments is equally valued.
- Familiarity with adjacent finance tools such as BlackLine, Bill.com, Ramp, Brex, Stripe, Avalara, Anaplan, Tableau, or Power BI is highly regarded.
- Demonstrated, prior paid experience in Human Data support for AI training (annotation, labeling, RLHF, AI response evaluation, model evaluation, or rubric-based grading) — this is a firm project requirement.
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills (B2 level or above required).
- Previous verified participation in micro1 projects is a plus.
- Reliable internet connection and immediate availability expected.
