Estimator

Just Solutions Group is looking for a detail-oriented and experienced Estimator/ Bid Writer to join the team. The Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates and writing detailed bids for residential and commercial projects. This includes analysing drawings, specifications, and other documents to assess material, labour, and time requirements. You will work closely with the commercial, design, production, and procurement teams to ensure projects are accurately scoped and priced from concept through completion.

Main Responsibilities:

• Review architectural and engineering drawings, specifications, and scope documents to prepare accurate cost estimates.
• Prepare detailed and accurate take off for quantifying materials, labour, and equipment needed for projects.
• Work with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain pricing and evaluate quotes.
• Prepare detailed tender submissions, budgets, and cost plans.
• Participate in pre-construction planning, including risk analysis and value engineering.
• Collaborate with design, production, and project management teams to refine and validate estimates.
• Monitor costs during the lifecycle of a project and provide cost comparisons against estimates and Post Project reviews and reports.
• Preparation of bid proposals and tender documentation.
• Maintain and update a cost database to reflect current material and labour rates.
• Review tender portals for new opportunities.
• Bid Writing.
• Liaise and negotiate with Supply Chain.

Essential Skills/Qualifications/Experience:

• 5+ years of experience as an Estimator in construction within the UK, with modular or off-site construction experience preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and cost drivers.
• Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., CostX, Bluebeam, Buildertrend, Excel).
• Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Excellent communication skills and time management skills.
• High attention to detail and accuracy.
• External stakeholder engagement.

Desirable Skills/Qualifications/Experience:

• Degree in either Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
• Commercial awareness and cost control.
• Technical knowledge of modular and traditional construction.
• Negotiation and supplier evaluation.
• Team collaboration.
