As Director of Fraud Strategy, you will own Imprint's fraud prevention outcomes across new account fraud, first-party fraud, and transaction fraud. This is a senior leadership role with direct accountability for fraud losses, team performance, and the strategic direction of fraud controls at Imprint.
You will serve as the default fraud expert at Imprint — the internal thought partner for the fraud team and the authoritative voice on fraud strategy across the broader organization. This role blends deep technical fluency with cross-functional leadership, requiring someone who can operate at the rule level when needed and influence at the executive level consistently.
What Success Looks Like in the First 90 Days
Full command of Imprint's new account and transaction fraud controls, with the ability to research individual rules and field ad hoc questions or escalations independently
Demonstrated ability to update fraud rules — used as a proxy for sufficient operational context
A clear, evidence-backed point of view on the primary blockers to delivery speed (e.g., org structure, tooling, capacity, empowerment, or budget)
Substantive feedback delivered on the current fraud strategy vision for the next 6–9 months
Established as a trusted fraud authority across the fraud team and key cross-functional partners
Responsibilities
Own fraud loss outcomes across new account fraud, first-party fraud, and transaction fraud, with full accountability for team performance and strategic direction
Lead, develop, and grow a team of three direct reports — fraud leads across new account, first-party, and transaction fraud domains
Serve as the internal expert and thought partner for fraud strategy, both within the fraud team and across the broader organization
Define and evolve Imprint's fraud controls framework, balancing speed of delivery with operational complexity
Partner closely with modeling, engineering, and senior leadership to align on fraud priorities and resource trade-offs
Champion the most valuable fraud initiatives through clear storytelling and internal advocacy
Navigate fast-paced, cross-functional communication with clarity and precision
Act as an operational backstop in high-severity fraud scenarios, with the depth to engage directly when needed
Surface and communicate fraud risk, strategy, and performance to executive stakeholders in a compelling, accessible way
Qualifications
Required
Demonstrated track record of owning fraud loss outcomes as a non-individual contributor across a major product area — minimum 3 years in a people leadership role with direct P&L or loss accountability
Deep expertise in fraud prevention, with hands-on experience across multiple fraud domains (e.g., new account fraud, transaction fraud, first-party fraud)
Industry background in money movement — fintech, banking, payments, or similar environments where financial fraud is the core scope
Technically proficient: able to write or read code (SQL, SAS, Python, or equivalent), even if not actively coding in the role
Comfortable with how machine learning models work and how they integrate into fraud decisioning
Clear and compelling communicator with the ability to influence across teams and levels
Detail-oriented with the operational depth to serve as a backup resource in a fraud incident scenario
Skilled at navigating trade-offs and prioritizing high-impact strategic initiatives in a fast-moving environment
Nice to Have
Experience with credit or debit card fraud controls
Experience with transactional controls frameworks
Background building or scaling fraud functions in high-growth or early-stage environments
Familiarity with cross-functional fraud tooling and rule management platforms

Compensation Range: $225K - $250K
