Job Summary:

Super Micro Computer, Inc. is seeking an experienced Director, Global Trade Compliance to support our Malaysia office by providing strategic leadership for the company's global trade operations framework for import, export, customs, and trade compliance activities across worldwide manufacturing and supply chain operations.

This executive leadership role is responsible for developing and driving enterprise-wide trade compliance policies, governance, operational standards, automation strategy, and continuous process improvement initiatives while overseeing regional trade operations in Malaysia. The Director will establish scalable, technology-enabled trade processes that improve operational efficiency, strengthen regulatory compliance, and support Supermicro's rapidly growing AI, cloud computing, server, semiconductor, and advanced technology manufacturing business.

The Director will partner closely with Manufacturing, Engineering, Procurement, Logistics, Finance, Legal, IT, Sales, and Global Trade Compliance leadership to standardize global trade processes, implement automation solutions, optimize ERP and trade management systems, and establish best-in-class operational controls across the organization.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Global Trade Governance & Strategy

• Lead the development and execution of Supermicro's global trade operations strategy, governance framework, and operational roadmap.
• Establish enterprise-wide trade compliance policies, procedures, operational standards, and internal controls supporting global import and export operations.
• Standardize trade processes across global manufacturing sites to improve consistency, scalability, efficiency, and regulatory compliance.

Policy, Process & Operational Excellence

• Own the global trade policy framework, including SOPs, work instructions, governance documents, and operational playbooks.
• Lead business process reengineering initiatives to simplify and standardize trade operations across regional organizations.
• Identify process gaps and implement sustainable corrective actions that strengthen internal controls and improve operational efficiency.
• Develop governance models supporting customs, export controls, due diligence, licensing, broker management, and regulatory compliance.
• Lead enterprise risk assessments and continuous improvement programs across global trade operations.

Trade Automation & Digital Transformation

• Develop and execute the Global Trade Compliance technology and automation strategy.
• Partner with IT to implement and optimize SAP, SAP GTS, and other trade management platforms supporting customs and export compliance.
• Drive automation of trade workflows including:
  • Product classifications
  • Restricted party screening
  • Due diligence
  • Export licensing
  • Record retention
  • Broker integration
  • Customs reporting
  • Compliance dashboards
  • Workflow management
• Evaluate and implement emerging technologies, AI capabilities, analytics, and digital tools to improve trade operations and regulatory compliance.
• Champion data governance, reporting automation, and executive visibility into trade compliance performance.

Regional Trade Operations Oversight

• Provide executive oversight of Taiwan import and export operations while ensuring alignment with global policies and governance standards.
• Ensure compliance with U.S. Export Administration Regulations (EAR), Taiwan Strategic High-Tech Commodity (SHTC) regulations, customs requirements, sanctions laws, and other applicable international trade regulations.
• Oversee customs valuation, HTS classification, country of origin determinations, licensing activities, and broker management.
• Provide strategic oversight for customs audits, regulatory inquiries, investigations, disclosures, and government engagements.
• Support complex AI infrastructure, semiconductor, GPU, and advanced technology supply chain activities.

Cross-Functional Leadership

• Serve as the executive trade operations advisor supporting Manufacturing, Engineering, Procurement, Logistics, Finance, Legal, Sales, and IT.
• Lead cross-functional initiatives involving ERP implementations, manufacturing expansion, supply chain optimization, and new product introductions.

External Stakeholder Management

• Provide executive oversight of customs brokers, freight forwarders, consultants, and other trade service providers.
• Establish governance and performance metrics for third-party trade partners.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor's degree in International Trade, Supply Chain, Business, Customs, Engineering, Law, or related field or relevant work experience.
• Master's degree preferred.

Experience

• 12+ years of progressive experience in global trade compliance, customs, import/export operations, or international supply chain.
• 7+ years of leadership experience managing global trade operations or compliance organizations.
• Demonstrated success building enterprise-wide governance programs, policies, and operational frameworks.
• Experience leading digital transformation, automation initiatives, and trade technology implementations.
• Experience supporting multinational manufacturing organizations within the technology, electronics, semiconductor, AI infrastructure, or server industries.

Technical Knowledge

• Extensive knowledge of U.S. EAR, sanctions regulations, Taiwan customs and SHTC regulations, import/export compliance, customs valuation, HTS classification, and country of origin.
• Strong understanding of global customs operations, trade management systems, and regulatory compliance programs.
• Experience with SAP, SAP GTS, ERP systems, workflow automation platforms, analytics, and business intelligence tools.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience implementing SAP GTS, global trade management platforms, or enterprise workflow automation solutions.
• Experience leading enterprise-wide process transformation and digital modernization initiatives.
• Knowledge of AI-driven automation, workflow optimization, and data analytics within trade compliance.
• Experience supporting AI infrastructure, GPUs, semiconductors, advanced servers, or other high-technology manufacturing environments.
• Experience managing global customs audits, export licensing programs, regulatory investigations, and government agency engagements.
• Fluency in English.
