Role Overview

The Detailer II - Spooler supports construction projects through the creation, coordination, and management of plumbing and piping shop drawings, BIM modeling, and MEP systems. The role creates shop drawings for major mechanical systems, equipment room layouts, and detail drawings, and maintains project documentation so information can be retrieved and understood across the project team.

Drawing on a Journeyman or Foreman background and at least 5 years of trade and/or detailing experience, the Detailer II - Spooler provides MEP coordination and 3D modeling using BIM, helps reduce the time and cost tied to clash detection, collaborates with design and build teams to eliminate construction errors caused by design flaws, and mentors less experienced Detailers. This is a remote role.

This role may be filled at varying levels based on the candidate's skills, experience, and overall qualifications. Final title, level, and compensation will be determined through the interview and assessment process and will be aligned with internal equity and external market benchmarks.

Core Responsibilities

• Provide support on construction projects, including receiving, logging, tracking, expediting, and distributing shop drawings, RFIs, and other construction project documentation
• Create shop drawings for major mechanical systems on major construction projects
• Develop equipment room layout and detail drawings
• Maintain a protocol of documents so information can be retrieved and understood by others
• Reduce time and costs related to potential errors through clash detection
• Provide MEP coordination
• Provide 3D modeling using BIM
• Attend and participate in construction and other meetings as required
• Collaborate with design and build teams to eliminate construction errors due to design flaws
• Serve as a mentor to less experienced Detailers
  

Required Background

• High School diploma or GED, completed trade apprentice program or equivalent, and a minimum of 5 years of relevant trade and/or detailing experience
• Journeyman or Foreman experience
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to write, edit, and proofread content
• Good understanding of craft
• Ability to read and interpret basic construction documents
• Current knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, piping, sheet metal trades, and field installation methods
• Attention to detail
• Ability to coordinate projects
• Ability to train less experienced Detailers
• Knowledge of applicable AEC, BIM, and CAD software (Navisworks, Revit, AutoCAD)
