About this role

This is a remote position within the United States that requires travel as outlined below. Candidates may be based anywhere in the U.S.; however, preference will be given to those located in the following cities:

Overview:

Do you love travel, have experience handling animals (especially cats and dogs) and thrive in a fast-paced environment? Are you interested in a flexible and rewarding role, vital to our life-saving mission? If so, we have the perfect position for you!

As a contingent driver for our Animal Relocation team, you will meet animal welfare professionals across the country and fill an important role in creating opportunities for animals. It’s hard work that takes a special person, but there is no better feeling than knowing you personally and directly improved outcomes for an animal.

Who We Are

The ASPCA®’s (American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) Animal Relocation team is responsible for transporting more than 35,000 dogs and cats each year. Using both land and air transportation, the ASPCA partners with “source” shelters in areas with high homeless pet populations and transports animals to “destination” shelters in communities where adoptable animals are in high demand.

What You’ll Do

Animal Relocation Drivers, a contracted position hired through a third-party staffing agency, are responsible for driving ASPCA-owned vehicles to relocate animals from source to destination partners. In addition to the crucial task of care and transport of both dogs and cats, this position is responsible for stocking the vehicle, monitoring the inventory in storage, maintaining logs, cleaning trucks and, on occasion, delivering the truck for maintenance.
