Commercial Credit Analyst - Equipment Finance - Remote
Altius Search Group is recruiting a Commercial Credit Analyst for an established national equipment finance company. This remote position will underwrite commercial borrowers and equipment finance transactions, prepare well-supported credit recommendations, and partner with sales, operations, documentation, and credit leadership throughout the approval process.
Direct commercial equipment finance underwriting experience is required. Candidates without prior underwriting experience in the equipment finance industry will not be considered. General commercial lending, banking, consumer finance, accounts receivable, or leasing experience without direct equipment finance underwriting experience does not meet the requirements for this position.
The ideal candidate will have three to seven years of direct equipment finance underwriting experience and the ability to independently manage assigned transactions while appropriately escalating complex structures, policy exceptions, and higher-risk issues.
Key Responsibilities
Underwrite commercial equipment finance transactions by analyzing financial statements, tax returns, cash flow, credit reports, bank information, collateral, guarantor support, and repayment capacity.
Evaluate equipment loans, finance leases, capital leases, operating leases, sale-leaseback transactions, vendor finance programs, and other commercial equipment finance structures.
Assess equipment values, collateral quality, advance rates, proposed terms, transaction structure, industry conditions, borrower strength, and concentration exposure.
Identify material credit risks, policy exceptions, documentation concerns, and appropriate structural or financial mitigants.
Prepare clear, concise, and well-supported credit memoranda and approval recommendations for new transactions, renewals, amendments, and other credit requests.
Present transactions and respond to questions from senior credit leadership or the credit committee as needed.
Collaborate with sales, operations, documentation, asset management, and credit leadership to obtain required information and move qualified transactions efficiently through the approval process.
Maintain complete and accurate credit files, approval conditions, workflow status, and supporting documentation.
Monitor assigned transactions for adverse trends, emerging risks, missing information, and unresolved approval conditions.
Communicate credit concerns promptly and exercise sound independent judgment within established policies and approval guidelines.
Requirements
Required Qualifications
Three to seven years of direct commercial equipment finance underwriting experience.
Prior underwriting experience in the equipment finance industry is required.
Candidates without direct equipment finance underwriting experience will not be considered.
Demonstrated experience underwriting commercial equipment loans, leases, or other equipment finance transactions.
Strong financial statement, cash flow, liquidity, leverage, collateral, and repayment-capacity analysis skills.
Experience evaluating equipment values, advance rates, transaction terms, guarantor support, and repayment risk.
Demonstrated ability to prepare concise, accurate, and well-supported credit memoranda and underwriting recommendations.
Working knowledge of commercial equipment finance structures, collateral considerations, documentation requirements, and credit policies.
Ability to manage multiple transactions independently, meet service expectations, and escalate complex or higher-risk matters appropriately.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work effectively with sales, operations, documentation, asset management, and credit partners.
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and commercial credit or portfolio management systems.
Ability to work remotely from within the United States during required business hours.
Education
A bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, business, or a related field is preferred. Equivalent direct commercial equipment finance underwriting experience may be considered.
Successful Candidates Will Demonstrate
Consistent, accurate, and timely commercial equipment finance credit analysis.
Credit recommendations that clearly explain repayment capacity, transaction structure, risks, mitigants, and approval conditions.
Strong ownership of assigned workflow with limited rework or avoidable delays.
The ability to balance business objectives with independent credit judgment.
Demonstrated experience underwriting commercial equipment finance transactions rather than only general commercial credit, banking relationships, or portfolio management.
Clear communication with internal partners and timely escalation of material credit concerns.
Sound judgment when evaluating complex structures, policy exceptions, collateral issues, and higher-risk borrowers.
Compensation
The estimated base salary range is $90,000–$105,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
