Backend (.NET) Developer

Overview:

We are looking for an experienced .NET Software Engineer to join a growing engineering team within an international banking environment.

The role is primarily focused on backend development using C# and modern .NET, including the design, development and maintenance of REST APIs and business applications.

The technical complexity of the APIs themselves is not necessarily unusual — much of the work may involve standard business functionality and CRUD-based services. What matters is having a strong understanding of .NET and software engineering fundamentals, rather than simply knowing how to implement endpoints.

We are looking for engineers who are curious about what happens under the hood, understand why particular approaches are used, and can make good technical decisions rather than simply following existing patterns.

What will you do?

• Design, develop and maintain backend applications and REST APIs using C# and .NET / ASP.NET Core.
• Build maintainable business functionality using clean, well-structured code.
• Work with relational databases and data-access technologies such as Entity Framework Core.
• Participate actively in technical refinements and help translate business requirements into appropriate technical solutions.
• Discuss implementation options, trade-offs and technical risks with other developers.
• Contribute to code reviews and software-engineering standards.
• ⁠Write and maintain unit, integration and automated tests.
• Troubleshoot production issues and investigate problems beyond the immediate symptoms.
• ⁠Work with CI/CD pipelines and participate in the full software delivery lifecycle.
• Collaborate with DevOps/platform teams where necessary.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of the development process and engineering practices.
• Share technical knowledge with other members of the team.

What are we looking for?

• ⁠Strong professional experience with C# and .NET.
• Very good understanding of modern .NET / ASP.NET Core.
• ⁠Solid experience designing and developing REST APIs.
• Strong understanding of core .NET concepts such as:
  - Dependency injection and service lifetimes
  - Async/await and asynchronous programming

  - Application configuration

  - Middleware and the ASP.NET Core request pipeline
  - Error handling and logging
  - Authentication and authorization

• ⁠Experience with Entity Framework Core and relational databases.
• Understanding of API design principles, HTTP semantics and application architecture.
• Experience with automated testing.
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD and software delivery pipelines.
• Experience with Git and modern development workflows.
• Good understanding of software design principles and maintainable code.
• Strong debugging and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to communicate technical ideas clearly in English.
• Naturally curious and want to understand why something works.
• Investigate what is happening beneath the surface instead of stopping at the first working solution.
  Question existing approaches constructively when there may be a better solution.
• Understand the trade-offs behind technical decisions.
• Continue learning and actively keep their .NET knowledge up to date.
• ⁠Comfortable working across different areas rather than being restricted to one narrow technical specialty.
• Can participate meaningfully in refinements and technical discussions.
• Take ownership of problems from investigation through resolution.
• Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical colleagues.
• Comfortable working with modern software-delivery practices, including areas such as: CI/CD pipelines, ⁠Automated builds and tests, ⁠Quality gates, ⁠Artifact creation and promotion, Environment configuration, ⁠Deployment processes, ⁠Monitoring and troubleshooting, ⁠Rollback and production-support considerations
• Experience with Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins or similar tooling is relevant.
