Accountant

Healthcare Fraud Shield is seeking a detail-oriented Accountant to support our accounting operations and financial reporting processes. Reporting to the Controller, this role will be primarily responsible for supporting an accurate, timely, and GAAP-compliant monthly close while also assisting with routine accounting activities and cross-functional business needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close, including account reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, fixed assets, financial statement preparation, and account variance analysis.
• Manage and support day-to-day accounting activities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable follow-up, expense reimbursements, cash and credit card activity, and certain customer invoicing.
• Maintain accurate accounting records and closing schedules while helping ensure transactions are properly supported, classified, and recorded in accordance with GAAP.
• Coordinate recurring tax filings, payments, and related compliance activities in partnership with Avalara and the company’s outside CPA firm.
• Assist with interim and annual financial statement audits, valuation requests, and other external reporting requirements.
• Support customer and commercial activities, including service level reporting, pricing requests, and insurance certificate administration.
• Help strengthen internal controls, improve accounting processes, and maintain data integrity across the company’s financial systems.
• Understand and comply with all company Privacy and Security standards

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• At least two years of accounting experience, preferably including significant involvement in the monthly close process.
• Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, general ledger accounting, journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
• Ability to review financial results, investigate discrepancies, and identify unusual or incomplete transactions.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities within established deadlines.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and comfort learning and working across multiple financial systems.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and with external service providers.
• A proactive, accountable, and process-oriented approach to work.
• Experience with QuickBooks Online, Maxio, Tallie, BILL, Salesforce, or Avalara is preferred.
• Experience in a SaaS, technology, healthcare, or private equity-backed organization is a plus.
• CPA license or progress toward CPA certification is preferred but not required.

REMOTE WORK REQUIREMENTS:

• Must have high speed Internet (satellite is not allowed for this role) with a minimum speed of 25mbs download and 5mbs upload.
