Senior Business Development Director – Digital Banking & Institutional Sales

About the role

Location: Work from anywhere in Switzerland

Our client is a fast-growing, regulated bank that offers modern financial services to institutional and corporate clients. They are looking for a senior sales leader to grow their business with private banks, pension funds, and other institutional clients.

You will lead the full sales process, from finding new clients to closing deals and managing the relationship afterwards. You will work closely with people across the business, including risk, compliance, product, and technology teams.

What you will do

• Build a growth plan for winning new institutional and corporate clients, mainly in the DACH region (Germany, Switzerland, Austria) and other parts of Europe.
• Win large, complex deals, including formal tender (RFP) processes, from first contact through to signed contract.
• Manage a portfolio of major clients, growing revenue through upselling and cross-selling.
• Act as the main senior contact for top clients, including work with C-suite leaders.
• Work with internal teams (risk, compliance, product, technology, legal) so new clients are onboarded smoothly.
• Help shape the client experience across digital platforms and onboarding.
• Take part in senior-level projects and strategy discussions, including with the leadership team.

What we are looking for

• A degree in business, finance, economics, or a related field. A CFA or CAIA qualification is a plus.
• Real, hands-on experience in the digital assets space (for example: custody, trading, tokenisation, or blockchain-based products).
• A strong, proven network of institutional contacts in the DACH region.
• Good technical understanding of blockchain, digital wallets, and related risk topics.
• 10 or more years of experience in regulated banking with institutional sales, or a mix of banking and digital assets experience adding up to a similar length.
• A track record of winning complex, long sales cycles and formal tenders.
• Confidence engaging with senior leaders, regulators, and board members.
• Fluent German and English are required. French is a strong plus.
• This role is a mix of new business (roughly 50–70%) and growing existing accounts (roughly 30–50%).
