Job Title: Backend Developer (.NET/Azure) 
Location Preference: 100% remote in LATAM working EST Time Zone 
Duration: 1-Year Assignment with possibility of extension 
Freelance Rate Range: $27-28/hr USD based on relevant experience

NTT Data seeks high-achieving team players who quickly adapt to new challenges and entrepreneurial ventures. We are looking for a Backend Developer (.NET/Azure) to work with our global client for a fully remote opportunity in LATAM working EST hours.

Overview

We are seeking a talented Backend Developer to join a growing technology team focused on building modern, secure, and scalable enterprise applications. This role will contribute to the design, development, and support of cloud-based solutions that enable critical business processes and system integrations.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience with Microsoft's modern development stack, cloud technologies, API development, and software engineering best practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services and RESTful APIs using C#, .NET, and ASP.NET Core.
• Build and support applications hosted within a Microsoft Azure cloud environment.
• Collaborate with product owners, architects, frontend developers, DevOps engineers, and other stakeholders to deliver high-quality software solutions.
• Develop integrations with internal and external systems using secure authentication and authorization mechanisms.
• Create and maintain automated unit and integration tests to ensure code quality and application reliability.
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to engineering standards and best practices.
• Troubleshoot application issues and production incidents, supporting root cause analysis and resolution.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, monitoring, and observability initiatives.
• Apply software design principles and architectural patterns to build maintainable, scalable applications.

Required Qualifications

Experience

• 3+ years of backend software development experience using modern .NET technologies.
• Experience developing RESTful APIs and integrating with enterprise applications.
• Experience working in cloud-based environments, preferably Microsoft Azure.
• Strong understanding of software development lifecycle practices and modern engineering methodologies.

Technical Skills

.NET & C#

• Experience building web applications and APIs using ASP.NET Core.
• Knowledge of dependency injection, asynchronous programming, logging, and configuration management.
• Understanding of application performance optimization and scalability considerations.

Database Development

• Experience with Microsoft SQL Server or Azure SQL.
• Knowledge of database design, querying, schema updates, and performance tuning fundamentals.
• Experience using Entity Framework Core and LINQ.

Cloud Technologies

• Experience with Azure services such as:
  • App Services
  • Azure Functions
  • Azure SQL
  • Messaging and integration services
• Familiarity with cloud security, monitoring, configuration management, and networking concepts.

API Development & Security

• Strong understanding of REST APIs and integration patterns.
• Experience with OpenAPI/Swagger documentation.
• Knowledge of OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, and JWT authentication.
• Experience implementing secure application integrations.

Testing & Quality

• Experience writing automated unit and integration tests.
• Familiarity with testing frameworks such as xUnit, NUnit, Moq, or similar tools.
• Experience debugging and troubleshooting complex application issues.

Source Control & DevOps

• Strong Git experience including branching, pull requests, and collaborative development workflows.
• Experience working with CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, or similar tools.

Architecture

• Understanding of:
  • Microservices and distributed systems
  • SOLID principles
  • Clean Architecture
  • Common software design patterns
• Familiarity with Docker and containerized development environments.
• Exposure to event-driven and cloud-native architectures is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Bicep, Azure CLI, or similar tools).
• Familiarity with Kubernetes and container orchestration concepts.
• Experience with automated code quality, security scanning, and DevOps best practices.
• Exposure to AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, OpenAI Codex, or similar platforms.
• Ability to review, validate, and improve AI-generated code while maintaining security and quality standards.
• Experience working within Agile software development teams.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field. Equivalent professional experience will also be considered.
