The responsibilities you'll be trusted with:

• Prospect, qualify, and build pipeline across the North American public sector (state, local, education, and government in the U.S.; federal, provincial, and municipal in Canada), using proven tactics like win notices, case studies, and FOMO-driven messaging.
• Define and refine the ideal customer profile (ICP) based on Avanquest's existing client base (vertical, geographic concentration, buyer titles).
• Qualify, negotiate, and close U.S. public sector opportunities (SLED) through VertoSoft's procurement vehicles (Omnia/TIPS/Sourcewell), as Avanquest's exclusive PDF distributor for U.S. government.
• Qualify, negotiate, and close opportunities within the Canadian public sector (federal, provincial, municipal).
• Maintain rigorous pipeline tracking across both markets and keep activity and deal data up to date in the CRM (HubSpot).
• Collaborate closely with the Channel Sales Manager and represent Avanquest at industry events and trade shows (e.g., NIGP), with occasional travel.

The profile we're looking for:

• Experience in both prospecting and closing (a senior SDR moving into an AE role) within the public sector, ideally in the U.S. and/or Canada.
• Ideal background: Senior SDR at a company in the space (e.g., OpenGov), for whom this role represents a clear step toward a closing position.
• Familiarity with public sector sales cycles (procurement processes, RFPs, long timelines).
• Knowledge of the PDF/Adobe competitive landscape is a plus.
• High degree of autonomy: able to build a territory from scratch with minimal day-to-day supervision.
• Comfortable with CRM/PRM tools (Apollo, Gong, HubSpot, Euler) — training provided upon hire.
• Willing to travel occasionally for industry events.
